When the rubber meets the road, you want to know that you are driving on the highest quality tire available. And we all love the quality that you get from tires that are made in the USA. After all, it’s not only common sense to buy American, it’s patriotic. And when you are driving the best, you want the best all the way around.

There are some great brands that are made in the USA.

  • BFGoodrich. Did you know that BFGoodrich is owned by Michelin? So when you buy BFGoordrich you are really buying a Michelin tire. Michelin is based in France so it’s actually a French company with tires produced in the USA.
  • Cooper
  • Dunlop
  • Firestone
  • General. What could sound more American than General? You might not know that they are owned by Continental. That’s another American sounding name – but it is really a German company.
  • Goodyear
  • Michelin
  • Yokohama. That sounds foreign for sure. They manufacture their tires in American but are definitely a Japanese brand.

That goes into the next issue or problem with trying to buy tires that are made in the USA. Some tires may be made in multiple places. For example, Goodyear produces their tires in Canada, USA, Germany and Chile. So how do you know if the ones that you bought for your ride were those that were made in the USA? It’s not going to be easy to find out. At least not as easy as shopping by brand alone.

If you are looking for some specific product lines made in the USA, you can check out:

  • Goodyear’s Eagle GT
  • Yokohama’s Geolandar (I’ve got these babies)
  • Goodyear’s Wrangler DuraTrac
  • Dick Cepek’s Fun Country
  • BFGoodrich Advantage T/A
  • Dunlop Signature II
