Driving with a burned-out headlight or tail light on your vehicle is not only dangerous, but it can also result in a traffic cop and a ticket. However, changing the bulbs yourself can be tricky if you’ve never done it before. Follow these helpful steps to perform a quick and easy fix on your car’s headlight or tail light, and you’ll be an expert in no time!

What you’ll need:

A new headlight or tail light

A screwdriver or wrench (depends on the model of your vehicle)

Step 1– Open your hood and find the back of the headlight. (For tail lights, you will need to open the trunk)

Step 2– Using the owner’s manual as a guide, remove the back of the headlight or tail light with either the screwdriver or a wrench.

Step 3– Carefully remove the old bulb from the socket and discard.

Step 4– Without touching the surface with your fingers, place the new bulb in the socket.

Step 5- Before putting headlight or tail light back together, test the light to make sure it is working properly.

Step 6– Replace all headlight or tail light components securely. Make sure everything is back where it’s supposed to be, and that everything is screwed on tightly.
