Engine Repair

Check engine light showing? Is something not quite right with your vehicle?  Suspect you may need an engine repair or inspection?

It’s vital to keep your engine in good working order, after all it’s the beating heart of your vehicle.  Getting your car in sooner rather than later can make the difference between a quick, affordable engine repair and a complex, costly one.

Do you need an engine repair?

Problems with your vehicle can sometimes be difficult to pinpoint, particularly if you are not experienced in cars.

The first sign of trouble may be the check engine light.
Most modern vehicles now notify you about certain problems within your engine and display a sign on the dashboard.  Do not leave this to chance however, you should always be vigilant and never rely 100% on technology to tell you that something’s wrong.

Check Engine Signs

There are lots of potential reasons that your check engine light might show.  Some are false negatives, others require attention soon and some are more serious.  Never wait around to find out.  If your vehicle is telling you there’s something wrong, don’t chance it, take it to your local repair shop to get it checked out.

Leaks

There are a couple of potential fluids that might leak from your engine.  Whatever the source of the leak it’s important to get it seen to as soon as possible to prevent damage to your engine.

  • Transmission fluid – Red to brown in color (catching a leak early can help prevent costly repairs)
  • Oil leak – Black or brown (low oil is bad news for your engine, call a repair garage)
  • Coolant – Bright green (coolant helps prevent overheating if you have a leak it’s essential you get it checked)
  • Not sure? Take it to a local garage to get it checked out, or give them a call to put your mind at ease.

Does your car drive differently to normal? Maybe it’s not revving the same, or there’s a slight delay when you accelerate.  These can all indicate some kind of problem with your engine.  If you think something’s not right, bring your car down to General Muffler and Auto Repair.

  • blocked or faulty injectors
  • blocked air filter
  • fuel leak
